TARGET TUMBLER USER ASSEMBLY STEPS
Perform the initial assembly at home in a clean open space.
Range/field setup is designed to be quick, easy and requires no tools. It will be covered below.
Required tools (initial setup):
-
#2 Phillips screwdriver
-
3/8” open end wrench
-
(8) AA batteries – 1.6 V minimum voltage. Higher voltage is better (up to 1.8 volts per AA battery). Use rechargeable batteries for cost savings and convenience. Turn Target Tumbler off when not in use

Remove and confirm TARGET TUMBLER parts from packaging.

-
Tripod (parts inside bag)
-
Discs (4) 4” diameter, ¼” thick
-
Rail Tension Cord - ~ 6 ft black paracord
-
TARGET TUMBLER Head/Base Unit (parts inside listed below)
-
TARGET TUMBLER remote
-
TARGET TUMBLER head LID
-
Hardware attached (1) 5mm machine screw, (1) 5 mm nut, (1) 3/8” nut
-
Rail unions (3)
-
Flex rail assembly (white flexible plastic with union and spring attached)
-
Flex Rail union
-
Rail tension spring (attached to union above)
-
Rails (silver Aluminum (5 total))
-
(3) Regular (18” long)
-
(1) Main rail (18” long with attachment hole for 5mm screw)
-
(1) Magazine rail (with laser etched Target Tumbler logo)
Assembly Steps
-
Locate the TARGET TUMBLER head/Base unit and the aluminum Main rail (with hole in end)

-
Using a P2 screwdriver and the attached/provided 5 mm machine screw/nut, attach the base rail to the head as shown in the video. Screw is on the back side of this image. It is useful to hold the 5mm nut on the inside of the Base unit while inserting the 5 mm screw.

-
Using the included 3/8” nut attach the TARGET TUMBLER head to the 3/8” threaded fitting on top of the tripod. TIP: remove the battery pack first, insert the nut prior to setting the TARGET TUMBLER head on the tripod. Turn nut 1/4 turn past finger tight. Do not over tighten.
NOTE: The base rail and tripod will remain attached to the TARGET TUMBLER head. There is no need to remove them after initial assembly.
-
Attach the Magazine rail (14”, laser etched) to the integrated channel on the back of the TARGET TUMBLER head. This is the Disc Magazine feed rail

-
Fully extend each of the tripod legs and lock in place.
-
Attach the remaining (3) rails with the included black plastic unions (snap together)
-
Locate the white plastic flex rail assembly. Attach to the end of the assembled ramp.
-
The Flex rail is tapered by design. This ensures a continuous, uniform curvature. It comes pre-curved but might benefit from more. Ensure the flex rail is aligned and true to the rest of the rail assembly
-
Find the Rail Tension cord (inside the tripod box). Put a knot in one end of the black cord. Thread the opposite end through the hole on the TARGET TUMBLER head just below the base rail attachment point (from back to front)
.

-
Tie a large loop in the opposite end of the tenson cord.
-
Attach the looped cord end to the tension spring. Spring should be stretched until it is twice as long as its relaxed length. This tension system keeps the rails and unions from separating during use. If the rails tend to move apart during use, the spring is not tight enough. Change the tension cord length by re-tying the loop knot

-
Once the rails, unions/coupling, tension cord and flex rail are all assembled, tuck the tension cord into the bottom of the unions as show:

-
Target Tumbler is now ready for use. The Main rail, Head unit/Base will not need to be assembled or disassembled from now on. This will make field setup and take down much faster and requires no tools
Gun range/field set up
-
TARGET TUMBLER is intended to be used with two people. One shooter and one operator to launch the discs. Operators and spectators should always stand behind the shooter
-
For first time set-up, find a mostly level area free of debris or obstacles. Smooth, hardpacked dirt is perfect. Do not use on concrete or pavement. If level ground is not to be found TARGET TUMBLER can be set up on a hill or slope. The tripod legs can be adjusted to level the system even on hillsides. If the area has a slight grade or slope, orient the TARGET TUMBLER so that the disc rolls downhill. The shooter will stand left or right of the TARGET TUMBLER, approximately 20 feet away.
-
Insure your shooting area is safe. Insure there is proper backdrop to stop bullets from hitting unintended targets. Shoot away from people, property and animals. Watch for possible vehicles or people that may be passing by
-
If at an established gun range, be courteous and cautious of other shooters. Only approach Target Tumbler or retrieve discs once the “all clear” is given.
-
Set up the tripod so the discs will roll (left or right) across the shooter’s field of view. Discs should roll out of the shooters’ peripheral view to a position directly in front of them.
-
Use the integrated bubble level on the top of the tripod to ensure the TARGET TUMBLER head is level
-
-
If the TARGET TUMBLER head is out of level the discs will not feed properly
-
If the Disc Magazine feed rail is too steep the disc release mechanism will stick, and discs will not release properly
-
If the Disc Magazine feed rail is not sloped enough the discs will not index and advance to the release mechanism. Make sure the mag rail is clean.
-
-
Clear a rolling path for the discs to travel (remove large sticks, rocks and trash).
-
Assemble the rest of the parts per the user initial assembly steps above.
-
Test the system.
-
Adjust system level to achieve proper feeding
-
Load 4 discs into the mag rail
-
Turn the base unit on (switch on bottom)
-
Press the remote-control fob “ON” button (off button is not used)
-
Track and follow the discs to see where they normally roll (sometimes not easy to find in grassy or cluttered areas)
